Event Event

An event is a special kind of object which, when executed, performs various tasks associated with managing the Multiverse. All actions within the simulation, no matter how complex, can be reduced the manipulation of the property values associated with simulation objects. Events provide an orderly mechanism for conveying the simulation's underlying story. Events are executed by the Event Driver, the server portion of MUDzilla.

Events are multi-purpose objects designed to replace the computer programming notion of coding, where lines of text are written in some computer language, and then compiled or interpreted into some machine-readable form. Events provide all the power associated with computer languages through the notion of an effect, which represents a single modification to the Multiverse. Events also possess conditions which govern the behavior of an event during execution.

In order to remember events as they occur, MUDzilla creates history objects during event execution, recording all modifications to all objects, along with information the simulation will use later to better assess itself. Called lore, such data reflects the unique perspective of the individual whose actions caused the event to execute.

All events are expressed through the TEvent class. See the MUDzilla Event Form for additional detail.
